Kinvara Shotokan Karate Club Grading Success

Kinvara Shotokan Karate Club is off to a solid start – established just 4 months ago, the club already has 40 adult and junior members training at the dojo in Kinvara each week.   Kinvara Shotokan Karate Club is affiliated to the Academy of Shotokan Karate (A.S.K.), and is privileged to have Sensei Michael J. Hogan, 5th Dan, as club instructor.  Sensei Hogan has been training in Shotokan Karate for over 30 years and is the Academy of Shotokan Karate’s senior instructor in Ireland.  He is also the former national Kata coach for Ireland’s ONAKAI National Squad and is the first Irish referee to be awarded European Karate Federation (EKF) and World Karate Federation (WKF) Judge badges.

Kinvara Shotokan Karate Club held their first grading on March 1st, with seven A.S.K. Tigers (under 8’s), twenty adults and older kids meeting Sensei Hogan’s high standards and passing their first grading with the club.

Kinvara Shotokan Karate classes are held in St Joseph’s national school hall, Kinvara on Mondays from 7-8pm (under 8’s) and from 8 – 9.30 for adults and kids over 8.  New members welcome.
